Alice Hietala

Education Coordinator
Alice's (she/her) career in social services began at Planned Parenthood - NLSHC as a clinic volunteer and grant writer in 2012 and it's only fitting that her path has brought her right back around to where it all began.

Originally from Toronto (but try not to hold that against her), Alice has worked in St. John's non-profit and community sector for ten years. She holds a diploma in Social Service Work, a Masters in Choral Conducting, and a Bachelor of Music Education, and is an organizer and mentor within the location 2SLGBTQ+ community. As founder of Spectrum Queer Choir, Mentor at Camp Eclipse, and most recently was a residential counselor working with homeless youth living in shelters, Alice brings a broad range of experience back to PP-NLSHC.

Alice has always been a passionate educator with a commitment to sexual health, harm-reduction, anti-oppression, and anti-stigma work and she couldn't be happier to be back at Planned Parenthood. She's never forgotten her first love.
